Women’s Self Defence Classes

Our self-defence classes are ideally suited to women. We favour techniques that are less dependent on strength, and instead use body mechanics and weak points to our advantage. Classes are conducted in a friendly atmosphere and do not require any extraordinary levels of fitness.

We do not separate women’s self defence classes from the regular class, giving students the opportunity to train and practice with men as well as women if they require.

Here’s what one of our female students said about the class

Natalie: “I joined this club months ago and can’t recommend it enough! I went along on my own and was very nervous about turning up as I don’t do any other form of sport and I have never trained in a martial art. However, I needn’t have worried – both the instructors and the other students have been unfailingly welcoming and kind, continually supporting me to learn new techniques at my own pace. It has been a very steep learning curve but it is one I am thoroughly enjoying.

“The class is a real mix of ages and abilities and caters for all of them very well but I am especially keen to recommend it to any women who would like to learn self-defence techniques in a safe environment. It has already helped me to feel more confident (there’s nothing like learning to throw a guy over your shoulder to help with that!) and I am amazed at how much I have done in such a short space of time. This is a really great group of people with teachers who make learning Jujitsu accessible to everyone – now I’ve started, my only regret is that I didn’t do it years ago!”

Female instructors

Some of our most senior students and assistant instructors are female, enabling us to offer 1-1 female tuition.
